Amy Jo Lozensky was born August 23, 1972 in Devils Lake, ND to Joe and Laura Schwan. The family moved to Velva for a short time and eventually found their way to Minot. From a very young age Amy’s characteristics and personality traits shined in her own unique way. She was soft spoken, a bit shy and was the quiet beauty in any room. Her love of the outdoors began at an early age enjoying the summer sun and was known to even take a few naps in the summer heat. The bathing beauty was born.
Her education began at Sunnyside Elementary where she spent joyful days on the playground and summer days at Roosevelt Park pool. She excelled in most classrooms and her teachers loved her calm demeanor and drive to succeed. Those attributes continued through Junior High at Jim Hill Junior High and High School at Magic City Campus. She was involved in many clubs throughout those years, attended national leadership camp, loved medical career classes, and was the smile that warmed the hearts of many of her classmates.
After graduation her career in the medical administration field began at the Medical Arts Clinic. Her calm, friendly, positive work ethic was an asset in several medical offices in the Minot area. When she wasn’t busy working, her free time was filled with all sorts of fun. She enjoyed traveling near and far, attending concerts wherever she could get tickets, throwing darts with her friends, and spending as much time at the lake as possible. Her zest for life and adventure was so contagious, all those around her were able to experience so much because she was always busy planning the next adventure.
Her path lead her to Fargo in 2005 where she broadened her horizons and stepped into her career with an open heart. She loved meeting new people, going on amazing vacations, savoring scrumptious food, and dancing her evenings away. She managed the distance and was a constant source of joy and love in lives of all of her niece’s and her nephew’s lives during that time, remaining dedicated to her family.
Amy’s path continued to bring her to where she eventually found her true home. In 2009 she moved to Bismarck to follow her career with Sanford Medical Center and also her loving heart. She reunited with her love Jeris and the two began to take on this world together. 11/11/11 her wish came true, Amy and Jeris were married. Her heart was not complete without a family and she was finally able to share her love with her own family. Getting to be a mother to Lily and Jed was one of her greatest joys. Creating happy family memories and a constant loving home for her family was a top priority and also one of the accomplishments she was most proud of through her last days.
Her beautiful smile, heartfelt wisdom, joyous charisma and determined worth ethic continued day after day. Her presence was felt in any room. Her natural beauty, her amazing laugh, and her caring heart was felt by everyone that had the honor of being in Amy’s circle. She was the life of the party, always up for an adventure. Her incredible confidence for travel, desire to explore and her exceptional organization skills made her the perfect vacation planner and all of her loved ones appreciated her amazing efforts time after time.
Amy handled her cancer diagnosis like she did most things in her life. She was prepared with facts, had complete confidence in the staff caring for her and processed each step with grace and dignity. Her desire to live and fight for her life was as contagious as her beautiful smile and incredible laugh. Her entire family followed her lead, as they were known to do, and fought this horrible disease with her. Day by day they watched her graciously fight for her life.
Amy was an amazing friend to many. She was the best auntie to all of those that got the privilege to call her auntie, her nieces and nephews included with several of her friends children. So many got to enjoy the love that Auntie Amy shared. Her passions in life included her love for Jeris, the kids, Lily and Jed, her babies Diesel and Marley, her devoted family, her love for others, her time at the lake in the sun, her love of music and dancing, fishing with dad at the lake, and her love for travel.
Amy is survived by the love of her life, Jeris; children, Lily and Jed; parents, Joseph and Laura Schwan; siblings, Angie Schwan (Blaine Isakson), Sara Schwan, Lucas (Jill) Schwan, Tammy (Derek) Sunderland; in-laws, Linda and Keith Dickinson; loving nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and puppies Diesel and Marley
