Barbara Hoover

Barbara Kay Hoover, 89, Mandan, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at a long term care facility in Mandan.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 12 at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 11 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Barabara was born November 16, 1936 to Homer and Inez (Dutton) Andrews. She was raised and educated in Moffit and Bismarck. Barbara went on to attend college at Dickinson State University and graduated with a teaching degree. She then taught elementary school in Moffit.

She married Vern Hoover and was a stay-at-home wife and mother. After her daughter was older, she went to work at the Bank of North Dakota until her retirement in 1999.

In her spare time, Barbara would craft on counted cross stitch or read books. She also looked forward to trips to the Medora Musical.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her daughter, Verna Hoover (Keary Hoff); nieces and nephews, Bill (Cora) Pifer, Chuck (Shelly) Pfifer, Clarence (Lisa) Pifer, Ken Hoover, Daniel Hoover, Kathy Hoover, Lori Hoover, Etta Andrews, Julie (Gerard) Feist, Lyla Hoover, Ailsa (Les) Scilley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents; sister, Bertha (Andrews) Pifer and nephew, Steve Andrews.
