She grew up in a small town where she says everyone in town was related to her. That’s not quite true, but close. She had lots of cousins to play with. They didn’t have video games or computers, not even TV. They played outside most of the time.
Her parents were divorced in 1933 and her mother married Harold Fayette Fletcher on April 28, 1939.
On August 2, 1942, her baby sister, Patricia Annette Fletcher was born. In 1943, when the twins graduated from Greybull High School, World War II was going on. The twins worked near home for about a year then moved to Utah where their father lived and worked at Geneva Steel Company in the office. They soon moved to Ogden, Utah where their stepfather, Harold, was working and worked at the Army Arsenal.
While they were working there, Betty met Carl C. Hermanson. He had been wounded in the war and was recuperating at the hospital nearby. They were married on September 11, 1945 in Otto, Wyoming. They had 4 children, Carol Ann, Steven Gary, Dennis Colin, and Michael John.
Betty celebrated her 100th birthday on October 14, 2025, in Bismarck, North Dakota.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Hermanson, identical twin sister, Beth Eileen Tolman House, and 3 brothers, Leonard M. Henderson, Rex LaVern Tolman and Robert L. Tolman. Brothers-in-law Herbert House and Jess V. Black, sisters-in-law Lucille Chouinard Henderson, Ellen Doreen King Tolman and Freda Gould Tolman. Niece, Nancy House Miller and Nephew Robert W. Tolman. Hermanson and his wife, Dana Willows Hermanson, Michael J. Hermanson and his wife Karen Dahl Hermanson. 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. 3 nieces and 2 nephews
She was very proud of her family and all they had accomplished. She was happiest when she could get her entire family together.
