Carrieann (Kline) McKay

CarrieAnn McKay (Kline), age 54, of Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away at her home on December 29, 2025. Born in Garden Grove, California on February 11, 1971, Carrie was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and unforgettable memories.

Carrie was a vibrant soul who found her greatest peace in the beauty of the outdoors. Whether camping, boating, or fishing, she was happiest under the open sky. She took great joy in planting flowers, along with caring for her house plants. One of her favorite places in the world was an area she lovingly referred to as “the desert” at Kimball Bottoms. Carrie adored the summer sun and especially loved celebrating the 4th of July. Christmas was her other favorite time of year—not for the cold, but for the joy, love, and spirit of the season, which she wholeheartedly embraced.

Our Place Tavern became more than just a place of employment for Carrie—it became a second home. Her loving, warm, and infectious smile was a staple there, making everyone feel welcome. Many regulars and acquaintances quickly became friends and family. Carrie had a gift for bringing people together, whether through planning gatherings, decorating for holidays, or simply being the reason people stayed and shared another moment.

At home, her heart belonged to her cherished dogs: Molly and Emma, who were a constant source of love and companionship.

Carrie was the loving and devoted mother of Jonathan Joseph Tracey and the beloved daughter of Marie E. Kline and the late William J. Kline. She is survived by her son Jonathan J. Tracey; her mother, Marie E. Kline; her sisters, Stephanie M. Vandeberg and Pamela A. Burkhart; her best friend, Joette L. Tracey; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A celebration of Carrie’s life will be held on February 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Our Place Tavern, 1305 East Front Avenue, Bismarck, ND 58504. As this date falls just days after her birthday, family and friends are especially encouraged to gather, share stories, and honor the infectious joy Carrie brought into the world.
