Charmaine Miller

Charmaine Miller, 84, passed away on August 12, 2026 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck. Charmaine was born on September 14, 1941 in Glen Ullin, ND to Paul and Margaret Gartner. She married Dean Kautzmann in 1960 and from that union, Lori Dean and Damian were born. Charmaine later married Bert Miller, Jr. in 1975. She became a step-mother to Troy and Jason. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

She loved attending hockey games, playing water volleyball, motorcycling and baking. She was known for her pumpkin bars and rhubarb bars. Even the Tupperware container used to store the baked goods has a sentimental meaning to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and cross stitching. Many sets of dish towels are now treasured by grandchildren and friends.

Charmaine is survived by her daughter, Lori Dean (Dave) Hill, and her son, Damian Kautzmann, step-sons, Troy (Lana) Miller and Jason (Tammy) Miller, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 at Edgewood Village Assisted Living at 3124 Colorado Lane, Bismarck, ND at 3:00 p.m. with a cake social hour.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. This was her favorite charity.
