1984 Christopher "Chris" 2025

Christopher "Chris" Smith

October 11, 1984 — December 21, 2025

Christopher Patrick Smith “Chris” passed away in his home surrounded by family on Sunday December 21, 2025. Chris was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 11, 1984 to Susan Abellar and Patrick Smith.

Chris grew up in Philadelphia and spent some time in California. He joined the Air Force in 2006, where he was stationed in Minot, ND. He spent his time working as a B52 mechanic. After he was honorably discharged from the military, he enjoyed many different jobs; the ones he loved the most were Keycare Medical and Sanford Healthcare Accessories. He found his passion in serving and helping others.

Chris met his wife Destiny in 2015, and she was quickly swept off her feet. He made life a fun adventure every day. Whether it was just sitting at home playing video games, working on endless craft projects, or taking in the Renaissance Festival, he kept life fun and full of laughter. Chris and Destiny were married on September 2, 2018, at the Renaissance Festival in Minnesota, surrounded by friends and family. Destiny adorned a dress he made and his best buddy dog, Einstein, wore a kilt he also made for him.

Chris was a big kid at heart and refused to grow up, or conform to adulthood. He loved his family and friends, helping anyone that needed it. When they had their daughter Amaya, Chris took on the role of stay-at-home dad, and she was his world. They went on endless daddy daughter dates and adventures. He loved nothing more than teaching her new things and snuggling on the couch with his sidekick even after he got sick.

He loved vacations, especially exploring the Oregon Coast and staying in the Redwoods. He would humor his wife for hours by searching for the perfect rocks and seashells on the beach. He was even lucky enough to take Amaya to the beach and Disney World for the first time.

Chris’ final wishes didn’t consist of a funeral or anything fancy, instead he wants those who loved him to remember him by playing a game and having fun. So, respectfully boot up your Xbox or computer, log in and play a game in honor of him, so he can continue to feel your joy and love.

A burial will be held at a later date at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Chris is survived by his wife, Destiny; daughter Amaya; father, Ed (Cheryl) Fagan; brother, Ryan (Megan) Smith and their children: Blake, Witten, Elliott, and Emmitt; in-laws, Mike and Robin Miller; sister-in-law, Tina (Will) Elzea and their children: Violet and Everlee; his cousin, Booker (Cathi) Messer; aunt Linda (Jim) McGurk; and best buddy, Einstein and best dude, Noodle; as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins he loved dearly, Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Fagan and his father, Patrick Smith.
