Curtis Lippert

Curtis Lippert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 82, on November 13, 2024, in Bismarck, North Dakota. He was born on September 23, 1942, in Ashley, North Dakota, where he spent his childhood and later graduated from Ashley High School.

After high school, Curtis embarked on a dedicated work life that saw him take on roles starting as a carpenter and ultimately spending over three decades at Melroe, where he was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union. His steadfast commitment to his work was a true reflection of his character and work ethic.

In 1968, Curtis married the love of his life, Cindy Jung, in Zeeland, ND. Together, they built a beautiful family, a household filled with love and laughter. He deeply cherished his time shared with family. The joys of fatherhood transitioned seamlessly into the joys of being a grandfather, and great grandfather. After his retirement, he babysat his grandchildren. Each moment with his family was a treasured memory, a highlight of his life’s journey.

Curtis was known for his loving spirit, spending quality time with his family. He was not just a family man; he was also a true friend to many. His passion for outdoor activities shone brightly through his love for fishing, especially cherished many summers spent at Slater's Resort at Lake Sakakawea with family and friends. Whether taking the boat out for a day of fishing or water skiing with his kids, these moments formed the fabric of numerous fond memories. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed hunting.

For many, Curtis will be remembered not just for his work and hobbies but for his warmth and his big heart. He was a proud owner of beloved pets, including golden retrievers, Tasha and Lady, and his treasured cocker spaniel, Tootsie, who brought extra joy to his life.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be carried on by his surviving family members, including his wife, Cindy; their children, Steve (Lesley), Scott, and Shelly (Tony) Meckle; his grandchildren, Tricia (Brian Lester) Lippert, Tim (Brittany) Larghe, and Deondra (Ricky Whittman) Mack; great-grandchildren, Kashton and Bryson; brother, Wayne (Nancy) Lippert; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emelia Lippert; and three grandchildren.
