Dale Lein

Dale Lein, 69, of Bismarck, passed away on Oct. 11, 2025 in a Bismarck Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

Dale was born March 24, 1956 to Lindy and Marlys Lein of Wing, ND. He graduated from Wing High School in 1974. He married Cindi Ennen in June 1977 and from that union came two sons, Chad and Nic. He remarried in April 1986 to DiAnn Ehlis and gained a stepson, Dion, and a stepdaughter Dawn (Tootie).

Dale worked at Harlow's in the Transportation industry for many years, managing busing routes and organizing vacation tours. He finished his career working for Bismarck Transit and driving the Cat Bus.

He was an avid sports fan. If there was a Vikings or Twins game on, you could guarantee he was watching. He also loved to watch softball and class B basketball . He was a great supporter of his grandchildren's sporting activities.

He is survived by his children, Chad (Dara) Lein; Nic Lein (Tanya Buchanan); step daughter, Tootie (Jim) Hatzenbuehler; stepson, Dion Ehlis; and sister Barb Novy; grandchildren, Dillon, Madison, Brayden, Easton Lein; step grandson, Hunter Hatzenbuehler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindy and Marlys Lein; wife, DiAnn Lein; sister, Nancy Flint; brother-in-law, Richard Novy.
