Darwin Gorden

Darwin Gorden, 79, passed away peacefully at his brother Grant’s home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Sept 2nd 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Wilton, ND.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Darwin was born in Bismarck, ND to Ivan and Vera (Wilson) Gorden on June 13th, 1947. Darwin grew up in Wilton, ND, where Ivan and Vera had their business, Gorden’s TV and Radio.

Darwin married Beverly Arndt on November 12th 1965. They made their home in Wilton, ND, where they started their family. Darwin helped Ivan and Ed with the Gorden family farm until Ivan passed away in 1969. They moved onto the Gorden family farm in March of 1974. It proved to be a perfect place for them to raise their 3 children, Jeff, Rick and Cheryl. Darwin loved to fish, hunt and go camping with his family and extended family,

Darwin was a hard worker who spent his life driving trucks and working in the oil fields. Early in his marriage, he drove for Chadwick Trucking. His subsequent career with Lorentz Trucking took him to Devils Lake, St. Louis, Missouri, and Alco, Nevada for major road-building projects. He also worked for Halliburton fracking oil wells.

It was hard to be away from his family, but he made the most of his time home fishing, hunting, camping and gardening with his loved ones every chance he got. He worked hard to make sure they had a big bountiful garden each year! It was a great source of pride for both Darwin and Beverly. Even at the end he was pulling weeds and eating peas straight of the pods!

Darwin is survived by his son, Jeff (Karen) of Horace ND, son, Rick of Fargo and daughter, Cheryl of Bismarck; grandchildren, Hunter, Sami, Levi, and Jesse; great granddaughter, Brynlee; and brother, Grant Gorden.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents, Ivan and Vera; brother, Warren; sisters-in-law, Candy Gorden and Penny Wedin-Gorden; and a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to extend a huge Thank You to all of the wonderful people at CHI Hospice for all of the love and care they gave to Darwin. They were a true blessing to Darwin and his family
