Dennis was born on March 5, 1947, in Minot, ND. He moved to Washington state, where he married the love of his life, Linda Pfeilschiefter on March 26, 1966, at St. Leo’s Church in Puyallup. Dennis worked at Boeing before starting his own construction company. In 1976, after the passing of his father, he brought his family back to North Dakota to take over the family farm. In 1981, Dennis and Linda bought a grocery store in Velva, ND, which they operated for ten years. Throughout his career, Dennis continued building homes, creating beautiful craftsmanship in each one until he retired in 2008.
Dennis and Linda were blessed with four children: Charlene Abel (Syverson), Jackie Abel (Espy), Stacey Abel, and Sandra Abel (Jacobson). A hardworking man, Dennis took immense pride in his work, evident in the hundreds of homes he built over his lifetime.
Dennis knew how to balance hard work with a love for life. He cherished family gatherings and get-togethers with friends, his infectious smile and laughter lighting up every room. A lover of travel, Dennis explored the world with Linda, the love of his life, always by his side. His motto, “Don’t half-ass it,” reflected his approach to both work and play. He also loved Corvettes, and old cars, of which he had many in his lifetime.
A master of sarcasm and wit, Dennis was known for his sharp sense of humor and loved cracking a joke any chance he got. He left everyone with a smile, often followed by a quick-witted remark that was uniquely his.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Linda; his four children; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. His legacy of faith, family, and the joy of Christmas will carry on through generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Nick Abel; his brothers, Ronnie Abel, Jerome Abel, and David Abel; his sister, Bernadine Abel (Hancock); and a special nephew, Joshua Abel, along with other nieces and nephews.
