Devin Harter

Devin Arnell Harter, 51, of Bismarck passed away unexpectedly due to a heart attack on May 23, 2025.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.

Devin was born on January 20, 1974, to Harold & Marvel Lue (Link) Harter in Bismarck. He attended Bismarck Public Schools graduating in 1992. He was employed in the family business, Harter's Landscaping up until his death. He was very good at his job laying pavers, building block walls, and yard leveling as well as other areas of the business.

One of Devin’s most cherished moments was the birth of his son, Nolan, in 2003. He was a proud dad and always loved spending time with him, especially fishing in the summer, hunting in the fall for pheasants and deer with him and friend, Don McDowall.

In the early years he was an expert BMX Rider winning many first place trophies. He also traveled to Colorado & Utah to ride mountain bike and snowboarding. Devin was more of a homebody, he preferred to vegetate at home watching TV, checking out apps on the computer, or watching Netflix. When he did go out, he liked to go out and eat pasta and drink long island teas.

One of the hardest challenges for Devin, was the death of his dog, Stella Blue. He loved Stella very much. They were together most of the time and there was an emptiness in his home when she died. 

Devin would on occasion introduce new games to his family members such as Scruples, which was one of his favorites. He also liked to play poker, bingo, go to out-of-town concerts, and attend live wrestling matches. Devin occasionally took trips with his family, such as Disney World, Kansas, to see his brother & family, and a recent trip in January 2025 to Arizona to attend a Barrett Jackson Car Auction where he was able to enjoy a $50 dollar hamburger meal.

Devin is survived by his son, Nolan; his parents, Harold & Marvel Lue Harter, his brother, Danan and his children Alexis Harter, Tyler Harter, Jasmine Harter (Tyler) & Haleigh Harter (Nathan); his brother, David, and his daughter Camryn Harter; and his brother Derek (Stacie) Harter and their sons Andrew & Christian Harter. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts and nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Walter and Elda Link; paternal grandparents, Benny and Harriet Harter; uncles, Robert Harter and Virgil (Gladys) Harter; and cousins, Troy Harter and Kim Radig.
