Donald Renken, 62, Flasher, ND, passed away on April 7, 2026, after a difficult battle against Huntington's Disease. Don’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 25th from 1-4 PM at the Branded Bar and Grill, Flasher ND.
Don was born on March 16", 1964, to Leo and Ruth Renken. He grew up in Flasher and graduated from Flasher High School, where he was actively involved in track and field, football, basketball, and softball. He also enjoyed spending time in pool and dart leagues.
Don dedicated over 30 years of his life to working at the Flasher Farmer's Union Elevator before retiring. In addition, he proudly served for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Flasher Fire Department. Don's commitment to the fire department showed his willingness to help others.
Don shared a very deep bond with his twin brother, Doug Renken, who was the most important person in Don's life. They spent 61 years together side by side, rarely apart. They found joy in the simple things - morning drives searching for wildlife, grilling together, and spending time outdoors. Known as "the boys" or "the twins", they are now reunited together again, continuing the activities they loved - whether hunting or fishing,
or simply enjoying each other's company. Don loved the outdoors, spending most of his life hunting, fishing, golfing, and boating. Don also enjoyed NASCAR and watching football, especially alongside Doug.
Don will be forever missed by his sisters, Dorie (Duane) Leingang and Sharon Hopkins; his nieces and nephews, as well as the many special friends Don had made throughout his life in Flasher.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Darrell, Randy, Gordon, and his twin brother Douglas; his brother-in- law, George Hopkins; his nephews Jesse Leingang and Billy Joe Hopkins; his niece Jessica Leingang.
