Elve was born on November 1, 1939, in Mohall, North Dakota, to Chester and Mary (Fitzgerald) Hill. She married Orlan Fuchs on April 17, 1964.

Elve owned and managed several businesses in the hospitality industry in Dunseith, Minnewaukan, and Bottineau. For 24 years, she made the Norway House her work home. Elve knew no strangers, if you met, you were her friend and important to her. Throughout the years, Elve‘s main job was the role of a mother to 6 children. She had a love for baking, hosting family and friends, decorating, and tending the animals on her hobby farm. After her children were grown, she retired and moved to Minot and later to Bismarck to be closer to family. She especially enjoyed following her grandchildren’s activities, whether in person or virtually.

Her family was her greatest joy!
