Ervin Gomke, 86, Mandan, passed away on November 20, 2025 at his home.
A memorial service will be held on December 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall located at 2620 Old Red Trail, Mandan, ND. For those that cannot attend, the service can be viewed via Zoom (code is 522-010-8434 and the passcode is 2620Oldred).
Ervin was born June 21, 1939 to Robert and Adeline Gomke on a farm in Carson, ND.
On January 19, 1962, Ervin married the love of his life, Marlene Kitzan, in Hebron, ND.
Ervin served in the Army branch of the military for 2 years. He and Marlene made their home in Mandan, ND where he worked for Morton County for approximately 40 years.
Ervin’s hobbies included gardening, fishing, collecting antiques, rebuilding a Model T, restoring classic cars, canning, wine/cordial making, feeding the many Ritzies (bunnies, deer & squirrels) that would visit his home, and many other creative hobbies.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Werner, Menoken; brother-in-law, Leroy Smith, Watonga, OK; sister-in-law, Kathy (Ron) Gappert, Bismarck; many nieces and nephew; and caregivers, friends, and people whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; his parents, Robert and Adeline Gomke; his father-in-law and mother-in law, Emil and Frieda Kitzan; one brother, Bobby Gomke; four sisters, Joyce Kitzan, Florence Schafer, Linda Smith, and May Fried; and two brothers-in-law, Leroy “Tubby” Werner and Harold Kitzan.
We are so grateful for everyone who cared for and befriended Ervin. Your love and kindness are greatly appreciated.
