Etta Schue

October 3, 1929 — October 7, 2025

Etta Luella Schue of Bismarck, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, just days after celebrating her 96th birthday. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to service.

Born to her parents Etta Mae (Casmey) and Albert Wellington Teal on October 3, 1929, Etta grew up in Euclid, Minnesota. From an early age, she was a woman of remarkable strength and deep, abiding faith that guided her throughout her life. Etta was a longtime and devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bismarck, where she found great comfort and community.

Etta was united in marriage to Bernie Schue on August 17th, 1950. Etta and Bernie were active members of the Bismarck business community, having successfully owned and operated hair salons for over 50 years.

She dedicated her life to her family, and her greatest joy was found in her roles as a wife, mother, and matriarch. Etta was blessed with four children: Gary, Bev, Pam, and Julie. She created a warm and loving home that served as a center for family gatherings and happy memories. Her enduring legacy is the love she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted family, including her son Gary (Debbie); her daughters Pam (John) Pelerine and Julie; her son-in-law Daryl Erickson; her grandchildren, Tyler, Leah, Jenna (Cole), Matthew, and Luke; her great-grandchildren, Jayce and Sailor; step-grandchildren, Nichole, Chris, Abbey (Justin), Jill (Josh) and step-great-grandchildren Andrew, Evan, Amelia, Nora, Elijah, Eden, Emily, Eilah, and Elliot; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Etta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernie; her daughter, Bev; her grandchildren, Elissa and Zachary; parents Albert and Etta; brothers, Orvill, Everett, and Alvin; and sisters, Dorothy, Lois, and Vi. The family finds peace in knowing she has been reunited with them.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers at Baptist Health and Rehab for their kindness and compassion. A very special thank you is also extended to her neighbors, Gayle, Janice, Paul, Allison, Carter, and Jackson, and friends Shari and Sharon, who loved her dearly and provided years of unwavering help and support; they were truly family to Etta.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to First Presbyterian Church, where Etta was a devoted member for many years.
