Florian Roehrich

Florian Roehrich, 80, passed away on the evening of November 2, 2026.

The family has requested a private graveside service at Riverview Cemetery in Washburn, ND, with a celebration of life to follow at a later time.

Florian was born on August 16, 1946 in Strasburg, ND, to Carl and Ann Roehrich.  He married Bonnie Hoff on July 16, 1966. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past July.

He spent much of his life teaching and coaching in high schools in North Dakota and Iowa, always mixing in stints in other industries; he sold tires, managed tire and auto-repair stores, operated a hotel, and worked in sports broadcasting and sports announcing. He even had a role in a play at a Des Moines theater. He obviously loved working with young people, and he was happy to sit and talk with anyone, from newborns to the elderly.

He loved horses, and owned many over his lifetime. If he couldn't talk to you about sports, then he'd talk to you about horses. He's probably riding right now.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Dean (Renee) and Drew; Grandchildren, Kathryn, Willow, and Kirtan "Buddy"; step-grandchildren, Madison, Emma, Joey, and Lily; siblings, Patrick (Marcy) Roehrich and Pamela (Jon) Kossan, and many family and friends.
