Gayle Yvette Schwartz, 79, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, in Mandan, North Dakota surrounded by family. She was born on November 2, 1946, in Dickinson, North Dakota. Gayle lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. A service will be held at 12:30 PM, Sunday, May 3rd at New Leipzig Baptist Church, New Leipzig, ND.
Yvette devoted over two decades of her career to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, where she worked tirelessly and rose through the ranks to become Sergeant of the Jail. Her leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she served. She made lifelong friends working there. Later in life, she spent a year in Texas working alongside her husband Dale, on a wind turbine farm, where she ran the field office with diligence and care.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gayle had a deep passion for writing, hiking, and photography. She found joy in capturing the beauty of the world around her and expressing herself through her words with her many stories and family letters. Her hobbies reflected her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and her adventurous spirit.
A woman of faith, Gayle cherished her church family at New Leipzig Baptist Church. She spoke often of the congregation with warmth and gratitude, eagerly anticipating each gathering. Her connection to her church was a source of strength and joy throughout her time in Elgin. Her faith through her life was very strong, being thankful for every day she was blessed with.
Gayle was a hardworking and loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She brought light into the lives of everyone she met—whether they were lifelong friends or strangers she encountered along the way. Known for her upbeat outlook on life and infectious happiness for each day, Gayle had a unique ability to bring people together. She was often the driving force behind family gatherings, creating cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and an enduring zest for life. May Gayle’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her and inspire others to live with the same warmth and generosity that defined her days.
To say she will be missed is an understatement, however we hope all that knew her will smile when they think of her, that is all she would have wanted.
