Gene Walch

Gene Walch, 82, of Underwood, passed away on Nov. 24, 2025 in a Garrison Care Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Gene was born on Dec. 12, 1942 to Bernard and Helen (Block) Walch in Harvey, ND. He was raised and educated in Goodrich and graduated from Goodrich High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1965 and was stationed in Germany and honorably discharged in 1967.

Gene married Wanda Striegel on Sept. 3, 1976 in Carson, ND and together had two children. He worked construction driving truck before starting with Falkirk Mine and retired there after 30 years.

Gene was a good kind man who was always willing to help others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda, one daughter, Sarah (Ken) Wasepka, of Mandan, one son, Ryan (Jamie) Walch, of Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary and one sister, Joann.
