Glen was born on June 16, 1954, in Kenmare, ND, and was raised on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for rural life.
He attended Sherwood High School and soon began his working years as a roustabout foreman in the oil fields. Glen later served as shop foreman at Cenex in Mohall and managed the OK Tire store in Valley City for two years. Seeking to further his skills, he attended Moorhead Technical School and became a certified welder.
Glen worked as a production welder for Gates Manufacturing in Lansford and Case Manufacturing in Fargo. Glen left Case Manufacturing to run the family farm alongside his brother Wayne. When the decision was made to rent out the family farm, Glen, together with his brother Alan, started a commercial and residential construction company, which they operated together for 15 years. After his time in construction, he joined Bobcat of Bismarck as a production welder, remaining there until his retirement.
Outside of work, Glen was an avid outdoorsman and loved snowmobiling. He was also a passionate sports fan. He especially loved cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. Glen liked to sing and performed in local Christmas Madrigals.
Glen was a passionate and accomplished dirt track racecar driver who built a respected reputation on tracks across North Dakota during the 1970s and early 80s. Glen competed at numerous venues throughout the state, consistently demonstrating skill, determination, and a fierce competitive spirit. His commitment to excellence and deep mechanical knowledge of his race cars earned him recognition among peers and fans alike.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Olav and Betty Aarhus, and his sister, Evangeline Aarhus Tingelstad. He is survived by his brothers, Alan (Sonja) of Bismarck, Wayne of Bismarck, and Kevin of Jamestown, as well as numerous nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Glen will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, deep loyalty to his family, and his love for the simple pleasures in life.
