Helen Fidge

Helen Fidge, 100, passed away October 20, 2024. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 23 at the Bismarck Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. 

Helen was born March 15, 1924 in Lenton Township Stutsman County, ND. The daughter of Fay Ebben and Selma (Viergutz) Heasley. She grew up and attended rural school in Cusator Township. She helped on the family farm.

She married Arley Heer October 28, 1947 and they made their home on a farm. To this union two children were born, Arley Paul Jr. on August 23, 1948 and Arleen Susan on August 20, 1954. Helen and Arley later divorced. 

Helen clerked at the Tempo and Ben Franklin Stores in Jamestown until she married John Neil Fidge on January 9, 1987 in Bismarck. They lived in Cusator Township Stutsman County, ND. They retired enjoying traveling, camping, fishing, and cooking. Helen was a wonderful cook and baker. John died September 25, 2000 and Helen moved to Bismarck to be closer to her family. She lived in Bismarck until August 2017 when she moved to Garrison, to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law.

Helen loved the Lord and read her Bible every evening before retiring to bed, it gave her great comfort. It filled her heart and soul with love and comfort knowing the Lord would see her through the good and bad times.

She is survived and deeply missed by her son, Arley Paul (Linda) Heer of Garrison; three stepchildren, Sandra Jansen of Jamestown, Gloria Fidge of Jamestown and Kathy (David) Ova of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Steven Heer of Bismarck, Melissa (Darvin) Schauer of Mandan, David Roehrich (Mark) of Wauwatosa, WI and Michelle (Bill) Sidor of Mandan; several step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one nephew and three nieces.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Selma and Fay Heasley; first husband, Arley Heer; second husband, John Fidge; daughter, Arlene (Heer) Roehrich in 2017; brother, Paul Heasley; sister, Pearl Hendrix; sister-in-law, Irene Heasley; brother-in-law, Bobby Hendrix; step son-in-law, Bruce Jansen; nephew Robert (Bobby) Hendrix and nieces, Diane and Diana Heasley.
