It is with great sorrow and many loving memories that we announce the passing of Inez Marie Schneider on February 17, 2025 at the age of 90.
Inez was born January 29, 1935, the oldest of seven children, to John and Rose (Weber) Salwei in Zeeland, ND. She graduated from Zeeland High School in 1953 and the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN in 1954. After moving to Bismarck, ND she went to work for the Director of Crippled Childrens’ Services. She also worked for the Hedden Real Estate Agency, the State Board of Higher Education and the Soo Line Railroad.
Inez married Thomas Schneider, the love of her life, in Bismarck on September 5, 1955 and together they raised five children. She received numerous compliments on her beautiful, youthful complexion and impeccable fashion sense. She was a talented seamstress and sewed beautiful quilts for all five of her children plus many of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her baked goods, desserts, homemade buns and butterhorns. She loved reading and music and passed that love on to all her children. She especially enjoyed spending time with and telling stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will miss her quick wit and her wonderful sense of humor. She filled our hearts with love and we will carry her spirit with us forever.
Inez is survived by her five children: Jeffrey (Lore) Schneider, David (Yvonne) Schneider, Vicki (Sheikh) Moiwo, Pamela (David) Fawcett and Patricia (David) Erickson. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Ann (Dale) Magstadt, brother David (Lenora) Salwei, brother Gregory (Cynthia) Salwei and sister-in-law Sheila. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, sister Sylvia and brother-in-law Peter Appel, brother Donald and sister-in-law Louise Salwei, brother John Salwei and grandson David Joseph “Joey” Schneider.
