James “Skip” Balzer, 77, Bismarck, passed away October 12, 2021, in a Bismarck hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Skip was born August 21, 1944 in Bismarck to Chris and Vange Balzer. Skip married Elaine Bachmeier on November 16, 1963. After retiring from Midwest Motors, he spent many years as a volunteer for the ND Game and Fish Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed collecting hunting and fishing equipment, marble, coins, and many other things. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen, 2 nephews, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, two sons; Troy (Tami) Balzer and Todd Balzer; three grandchildren, Justin (Jacqueline) Balzer, Jesse Balzer, Julie (Chris) Korkowski, Brad and Brianna Balzer; two great granddaughters, Elliot and Carter Korkowski; sisters, Bev Schaner, Mary Morgan, and Corie Atwood; brothers, Richard and Chris Balzer, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations are preferred to the donor’s choice.
