Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jerome Joseph Moszer, age 99, of Bismarck, North Dakota, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Savior on August 29, 2026, at his home in Bismarck.

Jerry moved to Bismarck at a young age and attended St. Mary’s Grade School. He worked many different jobs and careers throughout his 91 years in the workforce. Beginning at a young age, he went to work before school to help earn money and assist his mother in raising money for the family. As a young adult, he worked in furniture sales at Bing’s, which eventually led him to become the principal owner of Midway Furniture and Blue-Ribbon Furniture in Mandan. After retiring from the furniture business in 1986, Jerry began a new career as Sergeant-at-Arms for the North Dakota House of Representatives, a position he held for 30 years.
Jerry’s sports career began as a young man playing youth baseball and basketball. One of the core memories he shared with so many was the opportunity to shag baseballs at the ballpark when Satchel Paige pitched for the Bismarck Churchills. His coaching history was much longer than his playing record. Jerry coached and managed numerous Bismarck amateur basketball, baseball, men’s fastpitch softball, and women’s fastpitch softball teams, earning him the nickname “Coach” to many. As the years went on, he mostly coached from the sidelines as a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, Bismarck Larks, St. Mary’s, and, most importantly, his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events.
Duty and service were important to Jerry. His commitment to supporting his community included the Sertoma Club, St. Mary’s, Bismarck Elks and the U.S. military. He was the president of the Sertoma Club, when the donation of land was made for the Dakotas Zoo. He later found his time volunteering as train driver. He also was a member of the Bismarck Elks and served on many boards and organizations throughout his life. Jerry loved the United States and held a special place in his heart for our military, as several members of his family served or continue to serve. He instilled the values of hard work, integrity, and honor in his family and friends.
His longest career started when he married Nadine Fisher, on November 24, 1955. During their 56 years together, they raised four children and several foster children, building a home filled with love, family, and service to others. Family was the most important career of all to him. When a family member was in need, he was the first one to show up. Whether they needed financial help, babysitting, painting, moving, a ride to an event, or simply someone to spend time with, Jerry was there. He gave generously of his time, his talents, and his heart.
Many family and friends’ memories involve time spent at his cabin on Lake Isabel, where he watched generations learn to swim and ski. He cherished those moments throughout his life. For his grandchildren, Grandpa Jerry was a constant presence, a familiar face in the stands, a voice of encouragement, a storyteller, a coach from the sidelines, and someone who simply made time for them.
Jerry leaves behind a lifetime of memories for all who had the privilege of calling him Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Stozie, Uncle, Coach, Jerry, or friend. His legacy is not only in the years he worked, the teams he coached, or the organizations he served, but in the family, he loved, the people he helped, and the countless lives he touched simply by being there.
