Jerry A. Hulm

October 15, 1935 — February 7, 2026

Jerome A “Jerry” Hulm, 90, went to the lord courageously Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Missouri Slope Care Center, Bismarck, ND, the state he loved so much.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Ascension Catholic Church, Bismarck. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 12th, from 5-7 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Jerry was born in a boxcar on October 15, 1935, at Bison, South Dakota to Roy and Frances (Galbraith) Hulm. He was the 11th child of 15 children. When he was 5 years old his family moved to Bismarck where he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 1953.

In 1954 he enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. Upon his discharge he returned to Bismarck and worked for Hulm Electric with his two brothers as an electrician for 15 years.

In 1956 he married Virginia M. Boehm of Mandan and they had five children. She died in 1998 and he later married Beverly Farrell in 2002 in Bismarck. They shared 24 of the happiest years of their lives.

Following those years, he worked as a commercial and industrial electrician. In 1982 he was employed as a high voltage electrician with the Western Area Power Administration in Bismarck. He retired from that position in 1994. His co-workers knew Jerry as the “singing electrician and “Hummer. He loved going to work each day and enjoyed doing electrical work.

Jerry loved his life, family, extended family and his catholic faith. He enjoyed his family, especially all the grandchildren. His extended grandchildren entered his life when he was in his late sixties and what a joy it was, to him, to have them to love.

He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, basketball, and watching the Green Bay Packers. Driving many times to Green Bay, WI to Lambeau Field with family.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Beverly, Bismarck, her three children and families; his five children, Susan Hulm, Fargo, Jerome R. (Eva) Hulm, SC, Thomas (Mary) Hulm, Bismarck, David Hulm (Jenny Brighton), Iowa, Janet Hulm, CA; and one of his closest friends, brother Ted (Carole) Hulm, Bismarck.

He leaves behind six grandchildren, Rachael Winter; Annie Winter (Michael Lamont), Don Grad, Nya (Andrew) Wiese, Beatrice Waters (Jake Snyder), Brighton Waters; one great grandson, Tommy Winter-Karen; and great grandchildren, Harper, Crosby, and Calvin Wiese, River Synder.

He also leaves his extended family; Victoria (Bryce) Feist and children Conner, Caitlynn, Patrick (Andrea) Farrell and children, Gary (Hannah), Farrell, Amanda Penov, and Jacob and Courtney Farrell; Jeff (Dominique) Farrell, and children, Gabriel and Emily. Six great grandchildren, Kaison, Briggley, Evelyn, and Atlas Penov; Beckam and Arlo Farrell.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents, and eight sisters; Felicia, Cecilia, Rose, Clara, Mary, Theresa, Pat, and Judy; five brothers, Roy, Leo, John, Paul, and Donny.
