John Gisinger

John Michael Gisinger, 54, Hettinger ND passed away October 14, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 11:00 AM at the Bismarck Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Narum officiating.

John was born in Long Beach, California while his father was stationed there with the U.S. Navy.

He worked various jobs in the retail management field. He most recently worked at Family Dollar in Mandan and previously at the Beulah and Hettinger locations. He also was a previous manager at the Kum & Go in Hettinger, ND.

John loved drones, a self-proclaimed “king of the skies” who was happiest with a drone controller in his hand. In his free time, he could usually be found outdoors, chasing the horizon, filming storms and open fields and lands along the river.

John also liked to ride motorcycle. On his Can-Am Spyder he found his ultimate sense of peace and freedom.

He was a collector of many things, comic books, Pokémon cards, sports cards and knives. He loved buying tools and kitchen gadgets as well. But Johns favorite thing was spending time with family and friends.

John never knew a stranger. To meet him just once was to make a friend for life, as he welcomed everyone who crossed his path with an open heart and genuine kindness. A man of quiet strength and an unmatched work ethic, John poured his soul into everything he did. He will be remembered not only for his kindness, but for countless lives he brightened just by being himself.

John will be deeply missed by his parents, Roger and Margie Gisinger; brother, Christopher (Jenny) Gisinger; niece, Zahn Gisinger; nephew, Sebastian Gisinger all of Bismarck. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pius Gisinger, Friedabert and Ernestina Morast; uncle, Bill Meisenheimer; cousins; Scott Seabury and Ryan Gisinger.
