Julie Kling

September 28, 1959 — October 12, 2025

On October 12, 2025, Julie Lynn Marie Kling, 66, passed away peacefully at her home in Bismarck, ND after a courageous fight with cancer.

A small ceremony will take place among close family and friends on October 22, 2025 in Regan, ND to lay her to rest. A memorial service will be held next year in the summer/fall to celebrate Julie’s life.

Julie was born on September 28, 1959 in Fargo, ND to parents Betty and Jerome. She was their second child with her older sister, Denise. Betty remarried to Robert, and gave birth to Robin and Theresa, Julie’s younger siblings. With Robert traveling often for work, Julie got to see much of the country and greatly enjoyed her time exploring the history of these places with her siblings and cousins.

She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1978, and began her professional life in the hospitality industry. While working and finding her footing there, she met Dennis who she married in 1980 and had a son, Russell, in 1981. While their marriage was short, Dennis and Julie were lifelong friends while raising Russell together. 10 years later, her second son, Colton was born. While she excelled with her profession, her best work was as a mother to Russell and Colton. She soon began pursuing a college degree, which she achieved at Bismarck State College. In 2000, she met the love of her life, Tim, who she married in 2001. Together they built a beautiful life together in Bismarck, going on many adventures and experiencing life to the fullest.

Julie lived a vibrant life with her friends and her family. She found so much joy in the world and met everyone with kindness, warmth, and her infectious laughter. She loved to dance and have fun. She was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish college football team, who she got from her father, Robert, and developed a deep love of the Minnesota Vikings, with her husband Tim. She loved getting out in the community, going to festivals and markets and shows. She and Tim had an annual camping trip to Medora they took every single year on the anniversary of their marriage. She was a hero to her children, and she taught them to dream and find the good in life, as she aways did.

She is survived by her husband, Tim; sons, Russell and Colton; sisters, Denise and Theresa and brother, Robin.

Julie was preceded in death by her mother, Betty; fathers, Jerome and Robert and her ex-husband and friend, Dennis.

Note from her son, Colton:

This was painful for me to write as I grieve for my mother, but from the bottom of my heart, I want to personally thank everyone who shared a moment of joy, love, and laughter with my mom. It contributed to an immensely beautiful, full, and happy life. My dad, my brother, and I will carry her with us forever.

“A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.”- Maya Angelou
