Ken Buchholtz, 68, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2022

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.  All are welcome.

Ken was born on July 18, 1953, to Roy and Josephine Buchholtz.  He attended school in Bismarck and entered the military service in 1971.

Ken moved to Phoenix in 1988.  While working for Windy City Pawn he met his wife, Ginnie.

Together they had 2 sons, Dwight and Daniel.   In 1999 he began working for MV Transportation retiring in 2018 due to health issues.

In 2019 Ken came back to Bismarck to be a companion and caregiver for his mother.

While back in Bismarck he became reacquainted with several of his old friends who gathered faithfully for lunch each Tuesday at the Amvets Post #9.   They are now saddened by his empty chair.

When he wasn’t watching baseball, football or Fox News Ken enjoyed fishing and taking walks with his dog Max.  He was a faithful Twins and Vikings fan and loved listening to Pink Floyd.

Ken will be missed and leaves behind his wife, Ginnie; sons, Danial and Dwight; stepson, Joshua; stepdaughter, Rachel; granddaughter, Xiemena; sisters, Deb Bogert (Dave Bjornson) and Denise O’Grady; brother, Marlon (Vivian); nephews, Guy and Brandon Buchholtz; niece, Lauren Buchholtz and his beloved Max.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Buchholtz, Josephine Himmelspach; stepfather, Bill Himmelspach; brother, Terry; and niece, Tawni O/Grady.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Amvets Post #9 “Ken Buchholtz fund” 2402 Railroad Avenue Bismarck 58501
