Bismarck

Larry H. Lyson, 75, of Bismarck, passed away on May 9, 2026 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Monday May 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Lord of Life Church in Bismarck. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place and family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Larry was born on Sept. 12, 1950 in Minot to Harlan and Geneva (Woesser) Lyson. He was a man who was a son, husband, father, friend, brother, uncle and cousin. Larry lived a simple life which included graduating high school and serving his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Larry had a generous heart and loved fixing and helping when he could. He was always repairing or reusing things for new purpose. In fact some coworkers named this talent “Larry Rigging”. Most projects included some rather rough language which no one could ever break him of. One of Larry’s last clear statements, in response to a loud noise was “what the hell was that”.

When his stepson Bill got a motorcycle he said how come he can have one my mother would never let me have one. My, he loved his motorcycle with many happy hours riding it.

Larry loved hunting and fishing and always respectfully prepared the catch for all to share. Even in retirement Larry spent a lot of time out in his garage which looked more like a farm shop. He would always plan his projects carefully.

Because of his love for his daughter Tiffany, he could never resist teasing little blonde girls as it brought him back to memories of her. Larry had a deep faith in God. He faithfully said his evening prayers even to the last months of Alzheimer’s. He was anxious for leaving this harsh disease and welcomed the thought of the next life as promised by God.

He is survived by his wife Karen, of Bismarck; one daughter, Tiffany (Dennis) Lyson-Norton, of Waynesville, MO; one stepson, Bill Neustel, Jr., of Bismarck; six grandchildren, Tanner, Trevor, Jae Anna Norton, Becky Fischer, Wiley Neustel and Justin Hogue; one brother, Hal Lyson, of Bismarck; one sister, Cheryl Lyson, of Billings, MT.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and one stepson, Jay Neustel.

God speed Larry you did good!
