Leo Bonogofsky

Leo Bonogofsky, 67, passed away October 2, 2026. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 15 at 10:30AM at the Bismarck Funeral Home.

Leo was born October 6, 1958 to Joe and Helen (Hilzendeger) Bonogofsky. He was raised on the family farm south of Flasher and attended school in Flasher, ND. He graduated from Flasher Public School in 1976. Still keeping in touch with many of his classmates, always saying, “True friends are a gift!”

After graduating he worked various jobs until moving to Hazelton to help his mother run the Hazelton Bar. After the bar was sold, he worked for Tip Wessel until Tip passed in 1996. Leo purchased Tip’s farm from Tip’s family where he continued to farm. Due to health reasons, he sold the farm and moved to Bismarck in 2019.

Leo enjoyed traveling to various places. He had a knack for making friends and leaving an impression wherever he went. Leo always kept in touch with his nieces and nephews. Always remembering to call or text on their birthdays and anniversaries.

Leo is survived by his sister, Joyce Bonogofsky, Elgin, ND; brothers, Joe Jr., Casa Grande, AZ; Jerry (Andi), Baldwin; Ronald (Karen), Shields. As well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Helen; sister, Shirley Chadwick; brothers, Tracy and Kelly; niece, Sara Hummel; nephews, Dean Chadwick, Cory Bonogofsky and Dennis Bonogofsky.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, memorials be made directly to The American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice in Leo’s name.
