LeRoy Maki

LeRoy Maki Sr, age 74, of New Salem, ND, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, in Bismarck, ND.

LeRoy was born on September 25, 1951, in Ashland, Wisconsin, to Hilja Lydia Gronlund and Eino John Maki.

LeRoy grew up in Oulu Wisconsin and graduated from South Shore High School in Port Wing Wisconsin in 1969. LeRoy Maki went on to military service in Fort Hood Texas from 1970-1973 and then built a career as a Carpenter with Nail Bender Construction in Brule Wisconsin. He was known for being the man to go to for answer about the job.

He found joy in his hobbies that consisted of bough picking, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, woodworking, spending time with his family and eating potatoes.

LeRoy will be remembered for kindness, steady presence, devotion to family, and for the love he shared so freely with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilja Lydia Gronlund and Eino John Maki; siblings, Rodney Maki and Ronny Maki.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Erik Maki of Superior, WI, Nessa Maki of Superior, WI, Katie (Brandon) Bentz of New Salem, ND, Ashley Brookhouser (Michael) of New Salem, ND, LeRoy (Rustie) Maki of Fergus Falls, MN, John Maki of Punta Gorda, FL, Tabatha Maki of Arcadia, FL; his 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Chris and Renee Maki.

You will be greatly missed and always loved.
