Luis Vazquez-Bobe

August 19, 1945 — October 29, 2025

Luis Raul Vazquez-Bobe, 80, of Bismarck, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his home.

A Visitation will be held for family and friends Monday, November 3, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Luis was born August 19, 1945, in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico to Sotero Vazquez and Maria Eguisacea Bobe. He was raised and educated in Patterson, New Jersey, where his family moved when he was a young boy. After graduating high school and with the draft looming for the Vietnam War, Luis volunteered to join the United States Air Force, demonstrating the courage and commitment that would define his life.

Luis served his country with valor in Vietnam, earning medals for his actions in the face of enemy fire and danger. He dedicated 21 years of his life to military service, retiring as a First Sergeant. His unwavering dedication to his country, the military, and everything the flag represents shaped who he was and influenced everyone around him.

Upon retiring, Luis worked with the Pearl Abrasive Company as a general manager and salesman until his retirement. He also worked several jobs including at Target and as a janitor at St. Mary's Catholic School in Bismarck, where he filled everyone's hearts with laughter by telling the same jokes every day.

When not working, Luis loved to spend his time on the lakes or rivers fishing or reading several of Ed McBain's police detective novels.

Luis will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister.

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" - Isaiah 6:8

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Heroes' Harvests in Luis's name, an organization he deeply loved for its service to veterans and military community members.
