Marian Volk

Marian Aileen Van Vleet Volk climbed the stairway to Heaven on July 23, 2025 at Miller Pointe in Mandan.

Marian was born October 27, 1925 to Perry and Elizabeth Van Vleet in Pickardville, ND. She attended elementary school in Pickardville and graduated from McClusky High School. After graduation she moved to Bismarck to work at Nash Finch and Dakota National Bank. She married Pius Volk on July 17, 1951 and started their family as a stay at home Mom. During this time she did daycare for many families. Children were the highlight of her life. Her last goal was to live as long as her Mother who lived to be 97. She surpassed this by 2 years.

Marian is survived by her sons Brad, Mandan, Tim (Beck) and Tom (Lori) Bismarck; daughters, Jean, Mandan and Beth, Bismarck; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Luella Corbin and Warren Stark. Always family Linda and Dan Roberson and Marty and Scott Norby.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pius; sons, Jimmy and Mike; parents, Perry and Elizabeth; brothers, James (Frieda), Al (Gladys), and Don (Terry); sisters, Margaret and Marlys (Art); granddaughters, Randi Jo and Kasey; son- in- law, Florian Jr.; special friend, Barb Stark (her Avon lady). 

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the staff at Miller Pointe Wing 4 for the excellent care she received for the last 8 years. A very special THANK YOU to nurse Char and CNA Victoria who were with her from day one and became her family. She loved being there and liked to give all of them grief once in a while.

We will always love you Mom.
