Mark Edward Mittelsteadt, of Bismarck North Dakota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home, after living a long and debilitating life with progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Family will be receiving friends and relatives one hour prior to the service.
Mark was born on December 18, 1964, to Melvin L and Marcella J (Lipp) Mittelsteadt in Mandan, ND. He graduated from Mandan High School with the Class of 1983. He furthered his education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Petroleum Engineer from NDSU in 1988.
On June 13, 1992, he married Tina Sanborn. Together they raised two wonderful children, Adam John and Kayla Marie. Mark worked for the State of North Dakota as an Environmental Engineer until he retired in May 2020.
Mark was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, playing tennis, and many more activities. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and cribbage.
Mark will be deeply missed by his wife, Tina; son Adam Mittelsteadt and his wife Daymon; daughter Kayla Mittelsteadt and her partner Jay Wadeson. His sister, Diane Leingang and life partner Tony Martin; brothers, Steve (Kathy) Mittelsteadt, Joe (Deb) Mittelsteadt; and John (Peggy) Mittelsteadt. Nephews, Thomas (Brianna) Mittelsteadt and their children Emerson and Hadley, Matthew (Alicia) Mittelsteadt and their children Grayson and Jameson, Jacob (Jordan) Mittelsteadt, Jon Eikanas, Bryce (Dawn) Schroeder and their children Kellen and Leland; Nieces, Annie (David) Cicha, Sophia Mittelsteadt, Melissa (Jon) Walker and their children Jonelle and Jacob, Julie (Jon) Larson and their children Allison and Hannah, Brianna (Brad) Lundgren and her daughter August.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Marcella Mittelsteadt, niece Tiffany Eikanas, father-in-law, Willard Wegener, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
