Mary Ann Bohrer

March 30, 1929 — October 22, 2025

Mary Ann Bohrer, 96, peacefully passed away the morning of October 22, 2025. A private family service will be held.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 2-3 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home.

Mary Ann was born March 30th, 1929, to Marcus and Mary (Marie Tibasar) Berger. She was the second child (only daughter) and grew up in Bismarck with brothers Jim, Bob and Dick.

Mary Ann was baptized, confirmed, attended school, Graduated and Married at St Mary’s Catholic Church and School here in Bismarck. She worked as a secretary after high school in the tax department at the state capital until the late 1940’s when she started working at Hoskins-Meyer Floral in the office. This is where she met Wes Bohrer who was a delivery driver at the time. They got married on February 3, 1951. In 1964 Wes and Mary Ann purchased Hoskins Meyer from Lillian Henlein and owned it until it closed in 2001. Even after retirement you would often see Mary Ann in the greenhouse or in the floral shop nurturing the plants. When not working Wes and Mary Ann enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas with friends where they saw many of the Rat Pack Celebrities. They also purchased a lake cabin in 1968 where they spent the summer weekends with their many lake friends.

Mary Ann’s greatest joy was her family. She was the after-school drop-off for all her in town grandchildren where she was able to have one on one time with them to spoil them and treat them like little kings and queens. Mary Ann also loved her many dogs which she cared for as if they were her children.

Mary Ann loved to be behind the scenes usually in the kitchen, but she always made sure everyone around her was welcomed and served. Her favorite place to visit with guests was at her dining table where she spent hours with people drinking coffee, eating chocolates and laughing.

She loved flowers and gardening. This love was present until the end. Even after dementia took her from us, she still could make beautiful bouquets with flowers the nurses would bring for her.

Mary Ann is survived by a son, David and his wife Cathy and children Caitlin and Collin, daughter Mary and her husband Matt Puetz and children Katie Schwab, Hunter and Connor. Daughter in law Lisa (Richard) and son Ryan, Daughter in law Laurie (Byron) and children Matt, Mike and Nick, along with 13 great grandchildren. One brother Richard and his wife Jan Berger.

She is preceded in death by her husband Wes, Sons Byron and Richard, her parents and brothers James and Robert.

Special thank you to the staff at Augusta Place during these past 5-1/2 years.
