Michael Radke

Nov 21, 1964 — Oct 25, 2026

Michael John Radke, 61, passed away on October 25, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who will forever remember his generous heart, unmistakable humor, and remarkable ability to fix just about anything.

Born on November 21, 1964, in Mankato, Minnesota, Mike was adopted as an infant by Dale Radke and Eileen Hartman. After moving around frequently throughout his childhood, he eventually settled in Minot, ND, where he graduated from high school and met Charlene Brown, the mother of his two sons, Christopher and Darren.

Mike and Charlene later moved to Bismarck, ND, where Mike began working at Menards. His career at Menards brought him to work in Grand Forks, ND where he commuted from Crookston, MN. After a short time there, Mike and his family placed roots again in Bismarck in 1998. In 1999, after 16 years with Menards, Mike decided to take a leap of faith and pursue his lifelong passion of working with his hands and helping others to start his own business, Mike’s Mobile Home Service and House Repair, turning his natural talent into the career that he loved.

Mike was a true craftsman. From woodworking and small engines, to cars, homes, and just about anything that needed fixing, there never seemed to be a problem he couldn’t solve. His ability to build, repair, and create was only outmatched by his desire to help others. Whether someone needed a hand with a project, something repaired, or simply someone seeking advice, Mike was always ready to give what he could. He took pride in his work, but even more pride in being someone others could count on.

In 2014, Mike married Michelle Glasser, and with that marriage came the blessing of becoming a loving father figure to her three children: Erik, Sarah, and Brittani. Mike deeply cherished the relationship he had with them and considered them his own.

In 2015, Mike’s youngest son, Darren, joined him as a business partner, allowing the two to continue building the business together. Their shared work was more than a livelihood; it was another way for a father and son to spend time together, share their knowledge, and carry on Mike’s lifelong passion for his trade.

Even after being diagnosed with brain cancer, Mike continued working as much as safely possible. Although his illness brought challenges, it never took away his eagerness to help, his desire to fix things, or the spirit that had driven him throughout his life. His hands were rarely still, and his instinct to find a solution or lend a hand remained part of who he was.

Those who knew Mike will remember that his humor was unmatched and his personality was wonderfully whimsical. He had a way of bringing life into any room he entered, and his voice was one that could be recognized from a distance. He would break into song without warning, sometimes singing every word perfectly and other times inventing his own lyrics along the way. His spontaneous performances, quick wit, and unique sense of humor created memories that his family and friends will cherish for years to come.

Beyond his work and humor, Mike had a deep love for the outdoors, with hunting and fishing being what he loved most. Even from a young age Mike was rarely found sitting still; he was constantly making memories doing what he loved. With all of the adventures he pursued, he was creating a lifelong ability to teach loved ones around him through his experiences. He never missed an opportunity to tell a good story or teach someone else through his trials.

Above all, Mike will be remembered for his generous heart and the love he had for his family and friends. He was a man who gave freely of his time, talents, and abilities, often helping others without expecting anything in return. His legacy is not only found in the things he built and repaired, but also in the people he helped, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

Mike was preceded in death by his adoptive mother, Eileen Hartman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Radke; his sons, Chris (Jenna) Radke and Darren (Andrea) Radke; his stepdaughters, Brittani (Stryder) Makin and Sarah (John) Cabler; his stepson, Erik (Lisa) Glasser; his grandchildren, Victoria Radke, Madison Radke, Zachary Radke, Bellamy Radke, and Rowan Glasser; his father, Dale Radke; his stepmother, Jeanne Radke; and his sisters, Beth (Tyson) Brown, and Jennifer Radke.

Mike leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, laughter, and love. Though his hands may now be at rest, the things he built, the people he helped, and the memories he created will continue to live on. His voice may be quiet now, but the laughter, songs, and stories that filled the lives of those who knew him will never be forgotten.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
