Nicole Anderson, 48, of Bismarck, passed away on April 21, 2026.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service.
Nicole Marie Anderson was born on December 20, 1977, in the midst of a North Dakota snowstorm in Turtle Lake, ND. A plow truck carved a path through the storm so an ambulance, followed closely by a four-wheel-drive truck from Underwood, could make its way through the snow. It was a beginning that felt like a scene already unfolding, one that led to a thoughtful child, raised in Bismarck by a village of family who loved her deeply.
In Bismarck, she met Lance Walker, and together they began their journey in Spearfish, South Dakota. There, Nicole welcomed her two sons, Levi in May 2001 and Ledger in August 2003. She loved her boys and her family with her whole heart, always finding ways to care for them.
Nicole had an adventurous spirit; she often said she had “gypsy blood.” She lived in communities throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and Colorado, always drawn to new experiences. No matter where life took her, her heart led her back to Bismarck.
In 2009, Nicole met Steve Klaman in Bismarck, North Dakota. They were married a few months later and built a life grounded in love, laughter, and resilience. Together, they shared many moves and memories, always finding their way back home.
Nicole was a hard worker with a warm and welcoming presence. She took on many roles throughout her life, always willing to step in where needed. She was deeply creative and loved gardening, creating beautiful floral arrangements, and exploring hobbies such as stained glass and metalworking. She had a curious mind, a strong spirit, and a love of laughter that stayed with her throughout her life.
Nicole is survived by her sons, Levi and Ledger Walker; her mother, Jody (Boger) Paterson; her stepfather, Stephen Paterson; her father, Noel Anderson; and stepmother, Gena Gussenbauer; her sisters, Samantha Paterson and Whitley (Luke) Adams; siblings, Danny (Jammie) Anderson, Jessie (Julie) Anderson, Automn Gussenbauer, and Jazmin Anderson; along with many nieces and nephews who will remember their Aunt Nicole for the laughter she brought into their lives, and for keeping them wondering if she really did eat rocks.
Nicole will be remembered not for the struggles she faced, but for the spirit that carried her through it.
