Othelia Schiermeister

Othelia Schiermeister, 101, of Bismarck, passed away on June 1, 2025, in a Bismarck Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr., officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bismarck.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-6 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Othelia was born on April 6, 1924, to Edwin and Mary (Albright) Roemmich in Tappen, ND. She married Reuben Schiermeister on March 7, 1941. Othelia enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, gardening and canning. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. Othelia was very active with the church groups at Zion Lutheran.

She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Betty (Gary) Sjomeling, Gloria (Gordon) Zimmerman, Pam (Mark) Hoffman; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Helen Olson, Ida Morlock, Bernice Fried, Marvin Roemmich, Marlene Adolf, Mary Clyde and Shirley Ryberg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben; her parents; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene (Paul), Judy (Jerry); and sisters, Leona, Hertha and Hilda; brothers, Lenny and Raymond.
