Patricia “Patty” Ann Kershaw passed away peacefully on November 4, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. A funeral service will be November 11, 2026 at 11 AM at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
Patty was born on November 22, 1953, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Dallas and Joanne Kershaw. She was the oldest of five siblings: Ray Kershaw, Sandy Kershaw, Lester Kershaw, and Wade Kershaw. Patty was raised in Moffit, North Dakota, and later moved to Bismarck, where she and Marvin Richards started a family and raised their daughter, Stacy Marie Kershaw. Patty loved being a mother, and her daughter was always one of the greatest joys in her life.
While living in Bismarck, Patty dedicated 42 years of her life to working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. Throughout those years, she built many lifelong friendships and relationships. She often spoke about her residents with great joy and affection and would even go out of her way to purchase gifts for them. Caring for others was more than just her job; it was who she was.
Patty had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She made sure the people she loved and cared about had food, clothing, and whatever else she could provide. She was someone who would always listen, offer support, and make sure others felt cared for. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.
Patty retired at the age of 62, allowing her to spend more time focusing on what mattered most to her: her family. During retirement, she enjoyed going out to eat, creating diamond art, spending time outdoors, and gardening with her grandson Nathan. She also loved camping and celebrating holidays with her family.
Patty will forever be remembered for her generous heart, her caring nature, and, most importantly, the unconditional love she had for her daughter and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and countless memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by Stacy Werre (daughter), Marvin Richards (significant other), Elmer Steinwand (dear friend), Joanne Kershaw (Mother)
She is survived by grandchildren: Brandon Werre, Tiffany Werre and Joe Wilkie, Nathan Werre and Haleigh Harter, Nikki Grindberg, Great Grandchildren: Kaiden Werre, and Hannah Werre
She will be deeply missed and forever loved. Patty will always be remembered for her warm smile and laugh.
