Richard (Dick) E. Mason passed peacefully away on June 15, 2025 surrounded by his family at his home in Fargo. He was formerly of Bismarck ND. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life at JC Park, Century Ave in Bismarck to follow. A private burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Dick was born on April 21 1938 in Hood River Oregon to Vincent O. and Rena May (Welliver) Mason. He was the oldest of 4 children. Dick was raised in the Bismarck-Mandan area. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1956. He proudly served the U.S. Navy (SeaBees) from 1956 to 1960. He married Judy Zent in May of 1961. Together they had 3 children. Dick worked as a journeyman electrician for several local Bismarck companies. Throughout his career, he would travel for work. He spent time in Montana, Colorado, the missile sites, New York, New Jersey and California. He was a member of IBEW 714 for over 60 years and a member of the Elks Club for over 50 years.

During the 1990’s and throughout his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandsons, Bob, Sam, & Joe. He enjoyed taking the boys out for breakfast on Fridays.

In his spare time, he worked on projects. The patio addition to the house and the “play pen” shed are just a few. He was willing to help family & friends with home projects. He finished remodeling Scott’s basement family room and pool room with help from brother-in-law, Dick Zent.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Judy, children, Jeanie (John) Owens, Faribault MN, Jackie Mason, Fargo ND & Scott (Arylis) Mason, Moorhead MN. Grandsons, Bob (Kelsey) Mason, Joe Mason (fiancé, Maddie Moen) and Sam Owens. Sister Mary Person, Dallesport Washington and brother John V. Mason, DeRidder Lousiana and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his sister Susan Nelson & her spouse Dallas Nelson and brother-in-law Roger Person.
