Robbin Hendrickson

Robbin Hendrickson, age 74, of Bismarck, ND, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Vibra Hospital of the Central Dakotas in Mandan, ND, after an extended illness.

Robbin was born December 10, 1951, in Grafton, ND, to Theodore and Muriel (Skavhaug) Hendrickson, the third of their six children. Robbin spent his early years in Adams, ND, until the family moved to Minot in 1964. Robbin graduated from Minot High School in 1969 and graduated from Minot State College in 1974; he went on to receive a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1980.

Robbin met Jody Semchenko while they were both attending Minot State College. They were married in Bath, Maine on July 25, 1978, during a road trip with their very special friends, Bill and Lu.

Robbin spent a significant portion of his professional career working in social services and healthcare administration for the State of North Dakota. He served for many years as the Adult Services Program Administrator for the ND Dept. of Health & Human Services within the Developmental Disabilities Division. He had a lifelong passion to protect the rights and dignity of the developmentally disabled population.

Robbin was a man of many talents and interests. He led an active lifestyle which included swimming, curling, golfing, and fishing in Canada. He was an avid runner and completed several marathons. He also enjoyed reading, traveling, socializing with old friends and making new ones. He was especially proud of his Norwegian heritage. He loved dogs and would dog-sit for friends when needed. Robbin was very intelligent and enjoyed the pursuit of knowledge; he was quite the trivia whiz! After retirement, he and Jody enjoyed spending winters with friends in Panama City Beach, FL, Lake Havasu City, AZ, and other warm and interesting locations.

Robbin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jody; his sisters, Karen Bender and Becky Hanson, both of Clancy, MT; and Carla Scantlebury, Wilsall, MT; sister-in-law, Sharilyn Hendrickson, Crary, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Robbin was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Muriel Hendrickson; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Margie (Wenger) Semchenko; his grandparents, Carl and Mabel Skavhaug, and Carl and Ingeborg Hendrickson; brother, Brian Hendrickson; sister, Lana Landphere; brothers-in-law, Glen Bender, Raymond Myrstol (Carla), Russell Landphere, Brian Semchenko; and, many dear friends.

There will be no formal service or memorial held at this time. The family welcomes memorial donations to your local Humane Society.
