Roger Kvant, 71, Bismarck, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.
Roger Allen Kvant was born April 11, 1955, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Alvin and Mavis (Larsen) Kvant. Roger grew up in Fargo, and graduated from Fargo North High School in 1972. He attended North Dakota State University.
Roger held a variety of jobs after college, including working at Cargill and Don's Car Wash. He cared for his father, Alvin, in the years before Alvin's death, then worked for Godfather's Pizza, delivering pizzas and hobnobbing with those to whom he delivered pizzas.
Roger enjoyed camping and canoeing, especially in Canada. He was an accomplished bowler, and kept in physical shape playing soccer until his health began to deteriorate in his 50s.
Roger moved to Bismarck in 2017 to be closer to his sister, Linda. He resided at the Patterson Place until 2024 when he transferred to Benedict Place, the memory care unit at St. Vincent’s – a Prospera Community. Roger enjoyed being with the friends he made at the Patterson Place. He especially enjoyed piecing together puzzles with other residents every night in the community room. He was a regular at the By the Batch Bakery and Eatery (White House Cafeteria), where he had his “special” (french toast) for lunch every weekday.
Roger is survived by his three nephews, Jeffrey (Ann) Kvant, St. Michael, MN, and Arin and TJ Buringrud, Bismarck; sister-in-law, Elaine (Ron Kvant) Rateau, Fargo; and brother-in-law, Jay Buringrud, Bismarck. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ron; his sister, Linda (Jay) Buringrud, Bismarck; and his nephew, Allen.
Rather than visitation or a memorial service, Roger’s wish was that any memorial be a contribution to any program that provides assistance to children in need.
