Roger Praus

Roger John Praus passed away October 21, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society-St. Vincent’s. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30 at the Bismarck Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Family will be receiving guests one hour prior to the service and a rosary will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Roger was born on April 6, 1955 to John A. and Mary Ann (Rambousek) Praus. In 1973, Roger graduated from South Heart High School, then went to Bismarck Junior College (vocational training for an electrical lineman).

Roger started working for a local utility company in Bismarck in 1974 where he remained working for 41 years. He retired in 2015 from this career.

He loved fishing, hunting, making sausages and the curing and smoking of all kinds of meats (always trying to improve each recipe). He also enjoyed playing cards and occasional trips to the casino.

Roger is survived by his wife, Donna Lou (Hoverson) Praus; son-in-law, B.J. (Burel Gene Jr.) Morris; granddaughter, Paige Ann Morris; daughter, Melissa Jo (Praus) Seelye; son-in-law, Zane Seelye; granddaughter, Zoe Jo Seelye; step-grandson, Couy Seelye; brothers, Robert (Bob) and Donna (Jacobson) Praus, Richard and Alenna (Meduna) Praus, Raynold and Laura (Hofer) Praus, Randy and Debbie (Klemm) Praus; sisters, Margie (Praus) Brew, Marlene (Praus) and Richard Novonty.

Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Chastity Ann (Praus) Morris; parents; 2 brothers, Rodney and Randy Praus, grandparents; 2 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; father-in-law; mother-in-law and many uncles, aunts and good friends.
