Rosa Lee Wolt

Rosa Lee Wolt, 83, of Sterling, ND-Rosa Lee Wolt affectionately known as Rosie or Sis, peacefully passed away on September 3, 2026. A memorial service to celebrate Rosa Lee’s life will take place Saturday, September 12th at 11:00 am at Bismarck Funeral Home located at 3723 Lockport Street, Bismarck, ND 58503. Lunch to follow at the Municipal Country Club at 930 N Griffin St Bismarck, ND 58501

Born in Bismarck, North Dakota on August 30, 1943, to Roy and Maxine Brown, Rosa Lee’s childhood was spent working on the family farm in Sterling with her 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She worked in Bismarck for the State of ND, Vital Statistics department. She met her husband Clayton in grade school, reconnected in their 20’s and married in 1967. They built and opened Top’s Restaurant in 1968, and for 36 years, they served delicious homemade family recipes to thousands of customers traveling on Interstate 94. She loved to visit with customers and hear about their travels. She hired, trained and created almost 1000 jobs for those in the rural community. She hired her daughter Pam, her niece Teri, and nephews Mike and Joe all having a lot of fun together and working right alongside her.

She proudly received her Associate’s degree in Business from Interstate Business College and worked as an Administrative Assistant for Developmental Disabilities Department for the State of North Dakota.

She loved watching sports, football games (Green Bay Packers), NASCAR races and Olympics. She proudly watched her grandson play hockey and baseball in MN and watched her nieces and nephews play sports in Bismarck. She was a passionate cheerleader! She rode a motorcycle, snowmobiles and drove tractors. Her baked goodies and bars were family favorites, and she made them with love during holidays. In retirement, she and Clayton went on ocean cruises with her brother Bill and sister-in-law Rhonda, some of her greatest memories and experiences. She had a deep love for her family, her kind heart, her caring and generous spirit for others, her warm smile, and her contagious and jolly laugh.

Rosa Lee is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Clayton Wolt; daughter, Pam (Gracon) McBride and her favorite grandson, Marjais McBride. She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Rhonda) Brown; sister, Sharon Brown; sister-in-law, Linda (Larry) Jensen and so many wonderful nieces and nephews she adored. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard Brown and Robert (Dee) Brown; her sisters, Royann and Mary Brown and her niece, Vicky Schimetz.

Memorial donations are being accepted for HIT, INC., a non-profit close to Rosa Lee’s heart that her sister Mary enjoyed for many years. HIT, INC. serves people with disabilities, with brain injuries and children with developmental disabilities.
