July 9, 1943 — February 12, 2026

Our beautiful mom, Sally Darlene Kuntz, 82, Bismarck, ND went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2026, at the Baptist Health Care Center. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20th, at Capital Christian Center, Bismarck, ND. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Bismarck Funeral Home, Bismarck, ND on Thursday, February 19th, from 5 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service after.

Mom was born July 9, 1943, in Superior, MT, to Harry and Ella Clark. She was the youngest of 7 children and was born on her sister, Lillian’s 22nd birthday and instantly became an aunt. Mom’s dad worked for the railroad and so they moved around between ND and MT and settled in Hebron, ND. Mom graduated from Hebron High School in 1961 as Salutatorian of her senior class. Mom was active in school, cheerleading and playing the clarinet in band. Mom married the love of her life, Almore “Al” Kuntz, on March 3, 1962. Mom and dad were blessed to have 54 wonderful years together when dad passed away on September 14, 2016. They have five children: Cherie, Thomas, Sandra, Jason and Steven.

Mom was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest, Steven, was in school. She worked part-time for the U.S. Postal Service in Bismarck as a rural carrier, was a greeter at McDonalds in Kirkwood Mall, and worked at a local print shop. In 1989, mom and dad along with Steven moved to Madelia, MN, where dad was a postmaster. They retired in 1998 and moved back to Bismarck, ND.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, going to their activities, camping, playing games, cards, traveling (especially to National Parks, Branson, MO, Hawaii, etc.), reading books, spending time reading her Bible and daily devotionals, bike riding, motorcycling in her younger years, and walking. Mom volunteered with dad for the Bismarck Senior Center delivering Meals on Wheels, were involved in Marriage Encounter, and were members of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Mom and dad were seldom seen without each other and when he passed away, she missed him dearly.

Mom was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, daughter, and sister. She was a great listener, had a gentle spirit, and was always kind and loving towards others. Mom was a caring and compassionate woman and always put the needs of others before her own. Mom was devoted to dad and to her family and demonstrated unconditional love and forgiveness, had a strong faith, and was always ready to pray with her family, friends, or others whom she didn’t know. To this day, people in Bismarck will still come up to us and share their experiences with mom and dad and how their faith and love for each other and Jesus changed them.

Mom looked forward to one day being with her Lord and Savior and with dad. She is now home.

Mom will be dearly missed by her children, Cherie (Darvin) Denning, Thomas Kuntz, Sandra Kuntz, all of Bismarck, ND, Jason (Amy) Kuntz, Aberdeen, S.D., Steven Kuntz, Challis, ID; her grandchildren, Joshua Kuntz, Briana Denning, Zachary Denning (Lindsey Fettig) and Jacob Denning all of Bismarck, ND; Jeremiah (Angelica) Maier, Charlotte, NC; Madelyn (Ethan) Westby, Emily (Ben Wirth), Jonas Kuntz, and Dylon Kuntz all of Aberdeen, SD; Eryn Kuntz, Columbus, MT, and two great-granddaughters, Avery Denning, Bismarck, ND and Florence Westby, Aberdeen, SD.

Mom is survived by her sister, Joyce Larsen, of Manhattan, MT; in-laws Betsy Kuntz, Mott, ND, Patrick (Paulette) Kuntz and Sharon (Bruce) Walth all of Bismarck, ND, Jerry (Bonnie) Kuntz, Hebron, ND, and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate Almore “Al” Kuntz; parents, Harry and Ella Clark; siblings, Margaret (Jack) Hale, Beverly (Wendelin) Bosch, Harry Clark Jr., Donald (Pat) Clark, and Lillian (William “Bill”) Jurgens. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father in-law, Mathias and Barbara Kuntz; brother-in-law, Chuck Larsen; brother-in-law, Eugene Kuntz, and nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Baptist Health Care Center (especially the Morning Star staff) and to Caring Edge Hospice who loved, supported, and cared for Mom as their own. We will be eternally grateful to all of you.
