Terrance “Terry” Harzinski, 79, of Bismarck, passed away June 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, ND. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Terry was born March 5, 1946, in Curwensville, PA to Avanelle Duttry and Joseph Harzinski. After his father passed away at the age of six, his mother remarried Joseph Mollica, allowing Terry to be raised in a large Italian family.
Feeling adventurous, he decided to attend college in North Dakota at Dickinson State University, and, while exiting the student union one day, met Peggy Brewer, who fell for one of those “out-of-state guys.” The two were married a few years later on June 30, 1972, in Bowman, ND.
While in Dickinson, he not only found the love of his life, but also developed a sincere affection for the state of North Dakota. His deep fondness for his chosen home led to his career promoting the state, working first at the North Dakota Tourism Division and later as the Executive Director of the Bismarck-Mandan Convention and Visitor’s Bureau where he worked for 29 years. This work required much international travel and also motivated him to connect with Peggy’s extended family in Norway, who became beloved members of Terry’s own family. Terry loved the outdoors and was an avid pheasant, grouse, and deer hunter. His favorite place to be in the summer was with friends and family on his pontoon on the Missouri River.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two sons, Kristofer (Joshua) and Tyler (Ashley); and two grandchildren, Huntley and Logan.
