Troy Swindler Jr.

Troy Swindler, Jr of Bismarck ND passed away July 21, 2026 from Parkinsons disease.

Born in Lathrop, Missouri on March 20, 1944, to Troy Sr. and Erma (Sharp) Swindler, he attended Lathrop High School and later served as an Army MP. He began his career as an electrician for Light and Power in St. Joseph, MO, and eventually spent many years serving as a business agent for the IBEW.

In March 1963, he married Deanna Beattie and they had 3 children. They were later divorced.

In September 1991, he married JoAnne Fischer.

Troy loved to hunt and fish. He and JoAnne had a second home in Minnesota and spent many summers there.

In addition to his wife, JoAnne, Troy is survived by his three children, Jonna Swindler of Commerce, TX, Chrissy Heid (Doug Arneson) of Mandan, ND, and Randy Swindler (Denise Dubus) of St. Joseph, MO; two stepsons, Tom Fischer of Tucson, AZ and Pius Randy (Lynn) Fischer of Bismarck, ND; sister, Kathy (Zeke) Zwernemann of St. Joseph, MO; brothers, Kenneth (Betty) Swindler of Plattsburg, MO and David Swindler of Kansas City, MO; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Troy is preceded in death by parents, Erma Swindler and Troy (Mildred) Swindler Sr; sister, Betty J Swindler; brother, Donald Swindler; stepbrothers, JT Dean and Clayton Dean. Also preceding in death are stepdaughters, Melanie Fischer Rhodes and Jodi Fischer.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 27 2026, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Mandan, ND.
