Verlee Snyder, 92, Bismarck, passed away September 15, 2026. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 25 at 11:00 AM at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Verlee Nadell Snyder was born December 11, 1933 at the family home, south of Van Hook, to Christ and Nellie (Skarsten) Sevalson. She went to country school ½ mile from home for 8 years. In 1946, her folks sold the family farm and moved to Van Hook as the government was going to flood the area and about 30 feet of water now covers where she lived. Verlee went to Van Hook high school and graduated in 1951, with a class of seven. During high school she worked 4 years for Mrs. Traynor in the Exchange Bank at Parshall, also a telephone operator on the old plug in switchboards and as a waitress. These were interesting years as farms and towns were being bought out by the government and to watch a New Town being built.

Verlee married Russell (Ginger) Snyder on November 22, 1952 and they were the first couple to be married in New Town. Verlee joined husband in Fort Riley, Kansas where he served in the Army until going to Korea.

In November the next year a daughter, Kathy Lee was born. When Ginger returned home he went to work on the new bridge at New Town driving a cement truck. They followed the company to Kansas.

In 1956 they moved back to New Town to work for Northern Mud to service drilling mud to oil rigs, where Ginger drove truck and Verlee did the bookwork.

In January 1957 another daughter Karen Jean was born. In 1962 they were transferred to Gillette, Wyo. for 6 months and then moved to Baker, MT for 4 years. In 1966 they moved to Williston. They continued working for the same company through many name changes for 27 ½ years, retiring in 1983.

Verlee loved crafts, knitting, crocheting, reading, sudoku and playing Farkel. She was a volunteer Lab Tech. for United Blood drive for 11 years in Williston. She was an active volunteer selling tickets for the Senior Heritage Center and was a tour guide on several bus trips to Casinos.

She was a member of: The Good Sam Camping Club, Ladies Petroleum Club, Ladies of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled Veterans and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

In June 2011she became great- great- grandma to a set of twins.

Verlee was preceded in death by her husband, Ginger; her parents; 3 sisters, Doris Berglund and husband Beuford, Gertie Caya and husband Bill, Laura Ventsch and husband Erwin; 1 brother, Marvin Sevalson and wife Clarice. Also, one granddaughter, Laurie Hartsoch and two grandsons through blended marriages.

Verlee is survived by 2 daughters, Kathy(Rod)Lund of Anamoose and Karen (John)Garaas of Williston; 3 grandkids, Renae(Jim)Ramsey of Williston, Amy(Kyle) Bergren of Lake Park, MN and Brock(Ashley)Garaas of Lincoln. Several nieces and nephews and with the blended families 5 more grandkids, 30 great- grandkids and 17 great- great- grandkids.
