Vernon Berger, 82, passed away at his home in Mandan, North Dakota on May 11, 2025.
Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church in Mandan with Fr. Keith Streifel presiding. Visitation will be from 6–7 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary/vigil service beginning at 7:00PM. Burial will follow after the service at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Flasher, North Dakota.
Vern, the son of George and Rose (Berger) Berger was born on June 28, 1942 in Flasher, ND. He grew up on the family farm east of Flasher. He graduated from Flasher High School in 1960. After graduating he continued working on the family farm for many years. In one way or another, he was involved in farming and ranching all of his life. After moving to Mandan, he worked for Frohlich Oil for 20 plus years and then continued his career at BisMan Transit/CAT Bus for another 22 years until retiring in August 2022.
Vern is survived by his brother and sisters, Wilfred (Lynda) Berger, Bernice (Sam) Johnson, Marietta (Terry) Neuberger, and Connie Wetzel; sister-in-law, Helen Berger; his nieces and nephews and close friends, Jody Mittleider and Suzanne Hatzenbuhler.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marlene Henning; his brothers, infant George Berger and Paul Berger; his brothers- in- law, Andrew Henning and Kurt Wetzel, and his nephew, Mike Henning.
